Sommelier Location- Cruise line Seagoing Contract Type- Contract 4 months onboard and 2 months off Salary details- 1765 Benefits Commission details- Travel Accommodation Food Uniforms Experience required- 3 years Other- N A Job Summary Our prestigious 5 star Cruise Line is currently looking for an Assistant Sommelier to join their team onboard to take responsibility for beverage and Wine service sales mainly in the Restaurant and Veranda cafe. You will also ensure guest satisfaction by maintaining exceptional service at all times. Ideally you would come from a 5 star Hotel or Cruise Line with 3 years of experience. Job Description Ensure all Hotel Operations are carried out in compliance with the line s Environmental Compliance Plan Responsible for promoting and maximizing beverage sales Controls the wine service in the Veranda cafe or Restaurant according to the daily schedule Works with the Sommelier when promoting wine sales Supports the Sommelier with the Vintage program Follows and ensures that the company beverage standards of service are being adhered Helps to ensure that all beverage stocks in the bars and in the lockers or pantries are used stored and accounted for following company policies and guidelines Provides prompt attentive and courteous service to every guest in the assigned Restaurant Lounge Strive to up sell to better quality and super-premium products and recommend beverages when guests ask for assistance Responsible for the correct handling of all checks and sales transactions generated in the assigned area Assist in setting up lunch main lounge and dinner beverage service Ensure that drinks are served with the proper garnishes glasses and at the correct temperature Communicates any problems challenges complaints or service difficulties in a timely manner to the bartender on duty or immediate supervisor Assist in ensuring that all food service being provided in the bar is done according to company standards Ensure that the company policy is followed in regards to the drinking age followed Follow company y guidelines regarding cleaning uniforms and personal hygiene Assist in additional duties as requested by the ships management Job Requirements and Experience High school diploma or equivalent degree A good wine knowledge from the old and new world Practical knowledge of beverage operations and service Knowledge of public health and sanitation regulations and procedures At least 3 years experience working as an Assistant Sommelier in a fast paced 4 or 5 star Hotel Bar catering to an international clientele Working experience with an extensive beverage program that entails premium and super premium wine and other beverages Strong knowledge of wine service procedures Skills Strong command of the English language combined with good written skills Ability to work as part of a team that is focused on revenue generating and exceeding guest expectations Ability to up-sell Ability to describe and recommend beverage products in a way that is convincing pleasant and attractive Salary Details You will receive your monthly salary onboard in cash and this is tax free. Working onboard a cruise line means that no tax will be deducted from your wages and you will not pay National Insurance either.
