Job Description

The main purpose of this role is to specify design test and document power electronic systems for multi-megawatt drive systems. You will also lead or be part of a multi-skilled team taking full responsibility for complete systems or sub-systems. Main Duties Responsibilities are Specify design test and document power electronic systems. Including electrical design selection of components cubicle layout packaging and review of designs and calculations. Responsible for estimating and planning of work to ensure budgets and timescales are met. Application or development of engineering standards. Taking a lead role within a multi-skilled team of engineers draughtsmen technicians and or test engineers. Liaison with other units customers suppliers and sub-contractors. Specification design or use of computer simulation and calculation tools. Occasional working away from the office to support tenders customer meetings acceptance tests and commissioning. Provision of technical advice and assistance to tendering development and service teams. To deliver power electronics systems which comply with international standards and are safe for users to operate and commission. Qualifications Degree level in electrical and electronic engineering is essential Chartered Engineer status in desirable Experience Skills Experience in an engineering design manufacturing testing or research environment relating to Igbt or thyristor based drives is essential Knowledge of packaging and heat transfer issues Knowledge of drives control systems Knowledge of simulation tools Personal Qualities Good team player Excellent Communicator Enthusiastic Flexible and adaptable It is also essential that the successful candidate is UK security cleared. You will also be willing to travel within the UK and overseas for short term working if required and you will also hold a full UK driving license.
